Aquarius Full Moon - August 16 2008

Did you miss it? Did you miss the soulfully transforming New Moon in Leo with a solar eclipse? If you did no worries; August 16th’s full Moon in Aquarius will be just as juicy.

Remember: Full moons are times for culminations and harvests. Now is a good time to look at how your life is, and decide whether it’s all working for you. Speaking of you, the time has come to view yourself in a more cosmic, united sense. This is what Aquarius is all about. Aquarius is the cat with tons of friends from all walks of life. In its own rational, logical way it loves everyone and brings peace by making space for everyone at the table. Aquarius is a visionary energy that unites us all through acceptance and knowing that everyone has a special gift to give.

When an Aquarius Full moon opposes a Leo Sun we are called to examine how I (the sun as our astrological I am) fit in with and nourishes the one (Moon in Aquarius) and what holds me back from contributing to the one. Leo is super loving and creative, but can be a bit ego centered. It loves from a very personal, ego based space where Aquarius loves universally. It is time to see value in all and not in just what appeals to us. It is time to serve all—not just who or what we want to serve.

Speaking of service, the Aquarius Moon is snuggled up with Chiron, Neptune and the North Node—all in loving, accepting Aquarius. Here is another call to action folks. Chiron represents what would heal you, and how you heal others. Neptune represents our spiritual connection and aesthetic sense. And the North Node is our soul’s direction this life time. All those seeking opportunities of spiritual service, soulful creativity and healing you are receiving your call right now. Believe it or not—this means you! (Yes-- you) Aquarius guarantees us all a space at the table; we all have a role to play in healing ourselves and others. It’s time to take our roles seriously and play them to the hilt.

To facilitate our role play (heehee), there is some energy to balance. Neptune, Chiron and the North Node’s opposition to the Leo Sun begs us to readjust our perspective and roles. Be willing to expand your ego based vision of service into something larger. That something larger may not always be clear or tangible, but it needs to be spiritually based (Neptune). Take a second to examine how your attachments to who you think you are and what you think is important have prevented you from healing yourself(Chiron) and fulfilling your soul’s purpose (North node). Even though taking time to heal yourself and focus on your soul’s work may seem selfish (Leo) it is an integral part of each one of us playing the role we are meant to play (Aquarius).

Mars’s placement in Virgo square Pluto in Sagittarius will provide you with all the motivation necessary to heal and transform your perceived place in society. Mars in Virgo provides a delicious urge to heal, where Pluto in Sagittarius provides a thirst for transformation and freedom that can only be quenched through complete surrender to your specific role in the cosmic order of things.

If this seems like a tall order, don’t worry there is lots of energy to help you out. Mercury and Venus in Leo trine with Jupiter in Capricorn brings you divine ideas and friendly help in expanding your vision of who you think you are. Take a second to look at your Earthly attachments and what you give your power to through your thoughts and beliefs.

Should you feel ready for change Jupiter in Capricorn trine Saturn in Virgo gives you an opportunity to shift your reality. Jupiter in Capricorn helps us dream big, and when combined with Saturn in Virgo those big dreams are healing. And the resources and structure needed to manifest your dreams come to your fingertips.

Speaking of expansion, with Pluto in Sagittarius trine the Sun in Leo you can’t help but feel the need to play big. Pluto in Sagittarius pushes your buttons and makes you squirm until you begin to explore your role in the cosmos. Blend this energy with a Leo Sun that asks you to start acting like the star you really are. The time has come for you to fulfill your divine role on the stage called the Universe.

In essence, the time has come for you to think more of yourself. You are not just meant to follow societal expectations as a lemming approaching a cliff. The time has come for you to dig deep within yourself; heal and begin your soul’s work. When you begin this path all the assistance you need will find you.

New Moon in Leo/Solar Eclipse - August 1

Normally New Moons in Leo make me giddy, but this one maybe a wee bit challenging. At its best Leo is radiant, faithful, affectionate, playful, regal, entertaining and an amazing leader. At its worse Leo is selfish, bossy, controlling, domineering, egocentric and a whining, childish, bully. (My Natal Moon is in Leo—you are reading from someone who knows). So with the Sun eclipsing in Leo conjunct the New Moon in Leo there is an opportunity to explore the dark side of Leo. Note: I said explore. Explore implies that there is something to learn from the dark side of your Ego. You are not being invited to pitch a tent, roll out your sleeping bag; remaining in a state of bitchy, bully dark ego run amuck. Explore and move on! New Moons are about intentions. Look at the dark, remember why it’s dark and set an intention for the Light.

With the Moon, Sun and Mercury all together in Leo, bring awareness to your self image. This is a wonderful time to look at who you think you are, how you feel about yourself, how your mind works and how you communicate about yourself. Mercury rules communication and how your mind works. So, see if you can catch your Ego there. Notice what attitudes you hold out of societal expectation, fear and unresolved karma. What pain are you holding on to, and how has it shaped the way you share and perceive yourself. Leo doesn’t do wounded well, and in many ways it is loyal to a fault. Examine how you are loyal to mindsets, perceptions and feelings that keep you mired in darkness.

This New Moon in Leo is also square Uranus in Pisces, which can be taken a variety of ways.

Way 1. Since Uranus is a supersonic evolutionary energy you could really feel and experience the darkness of Leo. You would experience it such a deep, powerful emotional level that you will shift to a more spiritual space.

Way 2. In addition to a deeper connection to Spirit, Uranus in Pisces also calls for a Divinely inspired unique way of being. Uranus ruler of Aquarius is so much itself there is nothing else it could ever be. So with an Ego centric Moon in Leo that clings to all that is safe and material we also have the opportunity to chart a course towards something Unique, divine and amazing. We can go to a plain me (in Leo) to a sublime us (in Pisces). Keep in mind Uranus is retrograde. This will stir up things within you—not necessarily outside of you so look for another excuse to curse out your boss (Yep, Uranus doesn’t like being told what to do—and generally distrusts authority).

And if you needed more tension to explore your dark side Mars in Virgo opposes Uranus in Pisces. I may have mentioned it before but the key word here is: transcend! Mars is our motivation. It represents what drives us. Mars in Virgo is about healing, moving forward, and transforming your earthbound terrestrial experience (Virgo) into something more. If there is a sign that could transform something boring and laborious into something Divine it is Virgo. As mentioned above Uranus in Pisces is our Divine Finger print. Oppositions ask you to balance and harmonize energy. So synchronize your need to evolve with Spirit. Ask for direction, guidance and help. You are not alone! There are Angels, Ancestors, Ascended Masters and the Deity of your choice all waiting. You don’t need a funny hat or a robe to use the hotline to God.

In all that moving and healing, be willing to release or at least ease up on your emotional attachments. Be willing to let go of that negative way of thinking, those friends, that lover, shooting off your mouth for no apparent reason—all the things that may make you feel good, but are no good for you. This is what Mercury and Venus in Leo opposite of Chiron, the North Node and Neptune in Aquarius is all about. Venus is Leo is a good time. It’s warm, radiant, magnetic, loving and oh so comfortable. Mercury in Leo at this moment represents being stuck in ego centered thinking. It’s all warm, gushy and comfortable, but sometimes in order to move forward in Divine order we are asked to give up our comforts and attachments for something ultimately more fulfilling. Neptune, the North Node and Chiron in Aquarius promise healing evolution and a ticket into the great beyond. Venus offers a good time and Mercury offers hot air. Make your decision wisely.

Even though we are being asked to do a lot we always have help. Jupiter in Capricorn promises us the ability to do whatever we put our little hearts and minds to. Capricorn will supply the wisdom and determination, while Jupiter will expand our visions and bless us with luck. Jupiter in Capricorn is all about growing beyond what currently seems possible. And since Jupiter in Capricorn is also trine Saturn in Virgo you have a green light to really shift your physical reality by setting your sights higher and digging deeper.

Pluto in Sagittarius Trine Venus in Leo will also help you dig deep. This aspect is fabulous for unearthing the emotional dark side of your Ego and coming out with a larger light filled vision that works for you and Spirit!

In conclusion: observe yourself and take special note as to how your Ego reacts through emotions and thoughts. Notice what limiting thoughts and emotions are you attached to. Now is the perfect time to sort through them and set intentions for something much greater.

And although I didn’t go too deeply into it, this New Moon begs us to re-examine our role on this planet. All the planets that rule or govern daily life (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Saturn) are opposite or square planets that govern evolution (Pluto, Neptune, North Node, Chiron and Uranus). This is a wakeup call. We are being asked to consider our own personal role in the Planet’s evolution. We are being asked to consider more than ourselves, our perceived needs, our drives and desires in decision making. It is time to shift from me, to we. It is time to step into our greatness and serve one another and this planet, rather than just ourselves.

Full Moon in Capricorn July 18

" There are times in our lives when our hearts oppose our minds" -Nikka Costa

Our hearts ask us to do things that seem too big, too wild and too crazy; especially in comparison with the long list of obligations, to-do's and I forgots of our minds. Well, tonight your head and heart may just strike an accord thanks to the full moon in Capricorn.

Full Moons are culminations; it's a time of harvesting the fruits of our intentions. A full moon in Capricorn calls us to examine where you are financially, with your career, with your long list of obligations or with any other related root chakra issue you can imagine. {Your root chakra is a whirling vortex of energy located at the base of your spine. It governs your physical presence on the material  plane. It makes sure you are safe, fed, sheltered, and connected to your essential self.}

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, Lord of Time, Karma and Cosmic Taskmaster. Saturn sounds harsh, but it isn't really. Saturn just does its best to ensure that you are functioning in line with your essential self. Your essential can get confused with the self you are when you're at work, rolling with the homies or putting on cute yoga pants.Saturn brings you back from defining yourself by external reality by applying pressure in various areas of your life. Tonight the pressure is on your work habits in contrast to your emotional life. Next Full moon the pressure will be elsewhere.

So, onto our list of Saturian, Capricornian questions: Are you working hard? Are you where you should be in your career? Do you like your career? What is your next step?  Are you where you "should" be: financially or socially? Are you being practical by answering all these questions when there is so much to do? Are you doing what is expected of you by superiors, friends and family? Are you meeting their needs?

Before launching into answers take a second to listen to your heart. Capricorn is a material master. It balances and fulfills the requirements of material reality and then channels understanding and wisdom gained by meeting its Earthly obligations into evolving beyond all of its commitments. In short, Capricorn does what needs to do on this plane and then evolves beyond it. However in order to advance, Capricorn must listen to its emotions and understand what emotions have to say about its many commitments on the material plane. This is where the Sun in Cancer or our hearts comes in.

July 18th's full moon in Capricorn opposes the Sun in Cancer. Oppositions always ask for energy to be integrated and balanced. At this time, we are begged to examine and balance what nurtures our essential self with what we are obligated to do. Ruled by the Moon, Cancer reflects our Mother; highlighting the ways we receive care and express our emotions. Cancer is all about making sure your heart is heard, expressed and heeded. Cancer asks questions like: Are you resting? How do you feel? What would make you feel better? Can I make you dinner? What would be good for you right now? Are you doing what would nurture you and make you feel good right now? In short, are you emotionally and spiritually fed by all you do to sustain yourself on the material plane? If you are, are there ways in which you can more deeply express your connection with Spirit? These are questions the Sun in Cancer can help you ask.

A Retrograde Uranus in Pisces Trines the Sun in Cancer and Sextiles the Moon in Capricorn creating the opportunity to cleanse and heal emotions in relationship to our material obligations. Uranus is an ingenious planet; blessing us with inspiration, insight and a healing perspective that we would get no other way. Given that Uranus is retrograde, or spinning backwards through the sky, its effect is more internally felt than externally experienced. And since Uranus is in Pisces its ingenious energy can be channeled into cleansing and purging any negative emotions we're holding on to. So once you've asked yourself all sorts of questions about how you feel about your life, your career direction and how well you've been taking care of yourself you can be inspired to move in a new direction (if necessary).

And once you've decided what direction you want to go in, both Mars and Saturn in Virgo will bless you with the desire and ability to restructure yourself to get where you'd like to be. If anyone can help you move forward in a sane, practical, structured fashion it's Virgo. Virgo is an expert at working through any sort of drudgery or emotional messiness that a Sun in Cancer and Uranus in Pisces get you into. Mars in Virgo provides motivation to heal and move forward. Saturn in Virgo provides impetus to restructure, re work and mind the details. Remember, one way or another Saturn will move you forward. It's always best to work with the flow--now is a good time to focus on emotional healing and moving forward in a clear way that honors your essential self.

After introspection, if you find yourself still a bit clueless about what emotion to cleanse or what obligation to drop Chiron (how we heal), North Node (our Soul's direction this life time) and Neptune (spiritual center) are all still retrograde in mind expanding Aquarius, providing us clues as to where Divinity would lead us. So just breathe, still your mind and be open. Whatever you need will find you.

Here's the recap: Look at how you feel about all your obligations. Take a second to make sure they fit you and still feel right. If not, now is a perfect time for some house cleaning. Listen to your emotions; specifically around your material obligations. Receive emotional guidance and allow it to inspire you into a unique, honest way of being. Now is also a great time for a Spiritual check in. Whatever you decide to alter, or purge you will have planetary support with.

New Moon in Cancer - July 2nd

If you ever needed support and nurturing from the Universe, now is the perfect time to receive it. The Sun, Moon and Venus are all lined up in Cancer; uniting our ego, emotional and relational nature in a space that asks that we balance loving ourselves with loving others. That is the essential message of this time. Love yourself. Receive your good. There is nothing you have to do, or be to deserve your good. The Divine Mother loves you and wants to bless you. Sit still and soak up her love.

This love fest is opposite (or 150 degrees apart from) Jupiter in Capricorn. Jupiter always asks us to think big, and come up with a larger, more grand, more spiritual, more faithful ,more light filled version of anything that it touches. In this case it’s touching Capricorn. Capricorn is the super rational, super practical, super controlled, ever ambitious, law abiding, do gooder of the zodiac. But all that works well with Capricorn comes at a price, for they are the most emotionally controlled folks ever. The call to be emotionally nourished is challenging all the societal constraints and external demands that we have to keep our emotions in check and not express them. The lesson: find balance. Squelching, ignoring, pushing your emotions down will not prosper you in any way (Capricorn). Instead hear them. You don’t have to allow them to run amuck, but allow them to be expressed. This will bring a spiritual light to whatever external situation you are in. And wherever Spirit’s light shines there is healing (Jupiter).

And in case you just skipped over the whole ” balancing nurturing yourself and with meeting other's needs” theme the Universe sought to remind you by bringing Uranus in Pisces into Trine with Venus in Cancer. Uranus is a unique, independent, transforming, fast moving force that brings us deeply into integrity at the speed of light. Pisces is about Oneness, spirituality and unity. Venus in Cancer is emotionally supporting, friendly and loving. This aspect reminds us that we are one in spirit, yet we are still individuals on this plane. Love and take care of yourself, but balance it with loving others. (Sense a theme?)

Because the Universe likes to bring us even more goodies to work with, Pluto in Sagittarius trines Saturn and Mars in Virgo. If this doesn’t scream heal thyself—nothing does. Pluto, the slow achingly deep transformer is still retrograde in Sagittarius, demanding that we change what we give our faith to and draw power from. (Yes, demand is there on purpose—Pluto is nothing to play with. You either get the lesson or get your ass kicked in the meanwhile.) Mars and Saturn in Virgo gives us the motivation (Mars) and structure (Saturn) necessary to heal what we have faith in. So whatever you happen to be giving your power (which is your faith) to this month you have the opportunity to transform and heal it. Just in case you need a little guidance, Mercury in Gemini is trine Neptune, the north node and Chiron in Aquarius. Wherever or however your spirit needs to be guided or expanded it can happen this month if you are open and set an intention for it.

To bring it all together, be kind to yourself. All the rushing around you do for others,  allow it to wait and do a little something sweet for yourself. Know that you are loved more than you can imagine, and that the Universe wants you to receive that love. You just need to be a little slower to receive it. And since you've slowed up a second, take a look at where your give your power and your life direction. With all this love, you may find yourself gently pushed into a new direction.

Whatever happens take some time to be good to you!

Full Moon in Sagittarius - June 16th

Wednesday’s full moon in Sagittarius is quite an intense one. Intense and Sagittarius don’t usually go together, unless table dancing or evolution is involved. Lucky for us all, evolution is on the menu tonight.

There are a great deal of oppositions (or planets that are 180 degrees apart) in the sky. Oppositions present the opportunity to syncopate your needs with the needs of others, or harmonize divergent ways of being. So whatever comes up for you tonight or within the next three nights (the magic of the full moon lasts three days) just view it as an opportunity to syncopate, rise and expand. Despite the situation, remember that is an opportunity to harmonize or heal something, knowing that you cannot heal a situation at the level was created at; you must always rise above it. And let me warn you, tonight’s full moon in Sagittarius is all about rising.

On to the oppositions! Let’s begin by talking about the full moon in Sagittarius opposite Retrograde Mercury in Gemini. With Gemini’s ruler dancing backward through the sky, communications have most likely gone awry and despite your best intentions. It may feel like you’re not firing on all pistons. Translation—your mind and mouth aren’t sharp and no matter how much you plan, nothing seems to go according to work smoothly. 180 degrees away from Retrograde Mercury in Gemini, the full Moon in Sag asks you to lighten up and learn from Mercury’s shenanigans. Sag is all about expansion, evolution and going beyond what is in front of you. Sag is the universe’s explorer. It doesn’t take no for an answer and usually has somewhere more exciting to be than in reality. So, rather than allow all sorts of errant thoughts to run amuck, rise above them, expand beyond them; or if you in the mood to play super sleuth explore what is behind them. Often crazy thoughts serve as mirrors and smoke for something else that is going on with you. If you can wait for the thoughts to still they will. From this space of stillness honesty and healing begins.

Pluto in Sag is also opposite the Sun and Venus in Gemini. If you didn’t get the “change your evil ways” memo from the last two full moons here it is again. Pluto in Sag speaks to need to dig deep and expand your vision. A key word for Sag is faith. A keyword for Pluto is transformation. Thus Pluto’s presence in Sagittarius causes us to examine what we put our faith in; what we believe in. The Sun (ego) and Venus’s (love, pleasure) presence in Gemini (with its retrograde ruler Mercury) helps you look within; examine your thoughts about who you believe you are and what you think about love and pleasure. Mercury retrograde is a great time to looks within (besides nothing outside of you is really working). Now is a great time to heal and change destructive thoughts about yourself and life in general. And since Venus is here, it’s also a great time to look at your relationships. Be willing to think about how you get your pleasure and how it affects yourself and others.

Neptune, Chiron and the North Node are all in Aquarius and opposite Mars in Leo. Aquarius and Sag are almost kissing cousins. Where Sag wants to explore, expand and ponder, Aquarius has a grand vision that has usually come from much exploration and pondering. In many ways the two signs build upon each other. So you have this grand vision (Aquarius), through which spirituality (Neptune), healing (Chiron) and your soul’s purpose (North Node) are all expressed pulling opposite our selfish desires (Mars in Leo). Mars is about motivation. It’s that masculine energy that goes out and gets stuff done. Please note I said nothing about pondering, asking the universe for permission or thinking about how “getting stuff done” in a particular way may harm or benefit others. Mars simply motivates us to get stuff done! When you bring Mars to Leo which, God love it can be a bit self absorbed and pedantic you are blessed with the opportunity to balance all your egoic, personality based self with something grander. Yet again here is the call to rise. Grow beyond who you think you are, and what you think you can do towards the higher purpose for yourself. That space of being where you function within the Cosmos’s plan, not just your own.

And finally, Jupiter in Capricorn squares Saturn in Virgo. Squares are somewhat like opposites in the sense that it’s the opportunity to heal divergent energy. Jupiter in Capricorn squaring Saturn in Virgo gives us the opportunity to joyfully balance our duties with a return to self. Jupiter is the cosmic sugar daddy. It is fun, happy go lucky, spiritual, free and expands anything it touches. Capricorn is super responsible. It’s the hard worker, the boss, the super ambitious, the wise and the taskmaster. So Jupiter in Capricorn presents the opportunity to manage an amazing amount of wisdom and cosmic responsibility. Saturn Lord of Karma and ruler of time in healing, nurturing, detailed Virgo is all about returning us to our essential selves. Saturn rules the first chakra, which holds ancestral memory and gives you an idea of who you really are. Virgo is a healer and blesses us with the ability to manage whatever mess we may find ourselves in. What’s the message here: come back to your essential self, despite the mess you may think it may cause. Whatever happens—you can handle it. The earth needs you to be in place because there is great work to do.

So my friends, this full moon blesses us with a return to ourselves. Not the selves that we think we are, but something far greater and more beautiful. Tonight we are blessed with energy to move into space that serves all of us. Not just only a few. So allow yourself to enjoy the last few days of Mercury Retrograde. Turn within and ponder who you think you are and how that purpose manifests in life. From there dig a bit deeper, allow yourself to explore and expand into something greater. Open up to spirit and see how large you can really be.
